Just a little update between tours, to give you a recap of my last one: a 17 day race through 16 countries.
As you can imagine, the journey involved lots of travel but it was well worth the carbon footprint given the size of my events, the attention that they received from national media, and the momentum they created along the way. They will for sure have a significant impact in growing the zero waste lifestyle movement further!
Here is a little scrapbook of some of the people and the things I experienced:
In Dubai, I spoke at the Happy Cities Congress
-
and took a zipline across the city (more fun than visiting malls).
-
In Oman, I gave a talk in the capital, spent the night in the desert,
-
and found a new boyfriend thanks to @Bediyahsafaritours
-
In Macedonia, I launched the Macedonian version of my book (beautiful cover, no?)
-
and celebrated with Andrijana, my translator!
-
In Budapest, I launched the Hungarian version of the book
-
and met the woman who was inspired by my work to launch @thesortingbags, a line of reusable bags.
In Slovakia, I spoke at Slovakia Going Zero Waste Festival and discovered this worm composter by @wurmkiste.at
-
and this one by @vermigo_com (AMAZING)!
-
In Albania, I met the superheroes behind @greenlinealb -for the first time my talk was attended by more men than women!
-
and I was most delighted to see how much bulk was available there!
-
In Romania, I got some exercise visiting the Turda Salt Mine,
-
and had a full house thanks to @samsara.foodhouse.
-
In Turkey, super eco restaurant @ekbicyeic gave me a tour of their rooftop garden
-
and the French Institute filled two spaces for my talk.
-
In Latvia, I launched the Latvian version of the book,
-
with a presentation at the university (Loved the architecture)
-
In Estonia, Let’s Do it World had organized talk and interviews,
-
including one on National TV to show how I grocery shop sans packaging.
-
In Ukraine, I simply got spoiled: With a tour of Kiev’s underground water system,
-
a private tour to the top of the Motherland Statue,
-
print, radio and TV interviews,
-
and an event for the launch of the Ukrainian version of my book!
-
In Lithuania, I took national TV to @alpana_unpacked (a store that this blog inspired to transition to bulk!)
-
and had the best dinner of my tour @sweetroot_restaurant!
-
In Belarus, the organizing team took me on a visit of Minsk (here at the National Library)
-
and for a talk before a super enthusiastic crowd(photo credit @AlexeiBasalai)
-
In Russia, I made stops in St Petersburg (photo credit @igorpodgorny)
-
and Moscow,
-
for talks, interviews (photo credit Greenpeace Russia Liza Udilova)
-
and a visit of @zerowasteshop.moscow that Larissa (the owner) said I inspired!
-
In Bulgaria, I had a wonderful day filled with a rooftop lunch, interviews,
-
and a visit of @zoyabg, a store selling cosmetics in bulk -and sponsor of that night’s talk.
At the end of the week, I will be leaving again for a round-the- world tour through Namibia, Montenegro, France, India, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia. Stay tuned for the complete itinerary and links to events!
